Books for Bricks - Wrapup |
|
HIA would like to thank all of our customers and volunteers that made our recent Books for Bricks sale such a success. We raised nearly $4,600 for our 2009 build at 79 Winona Court in Denver by selling nearly 5,000 books. Thanks to our customers and to our volunteers who worked many hard hours loading, sorting, and selling books. |

Beyond Belief - Interfaith Action in Baltimore |
At the first interfaith build of Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity (in Baltimore, Maryland, USA), one group of volunteers -- Muslims, Jews and Christians -- builds cultural bridges while rehabilitating row homes for people in need of shelter. Their story appears in a recent article in Habitat World magazine.

Habitat's Homeowner Associations are in Need of Help. Habitat’s
multi-unit projects such as Tollgate and Newland Square have HOAs that are
looking for individuals interested in making repairs, replacements and
improvements. Most often what is needed are individuals or companies that
can provide good carpentry and general handyman skills in a timely manner.
Licensed electricians, plumbers and landscapers periodically are also in
demand. All work will be on a payment basis. If you are able to offer any
discount for your services due to the fact that these are Habitat
communities, that would, of course, be appreciated. If you wish to pursue
this opportunity, please contact Stan Cook at 303-377-3320. |
